Again, the perfect card for this weather and following in from Monday’s The Spiral. I don’t know about you but I’ve felt like I’m in a sweat lodge many times over the last 2 moons. The weather is incredible, without a doubt, but the duality is that it’s casting light on our darkness. We need to take stock of our own shadows whilst also making the time to reflect and cast off that which no longer serves us.
The sweat lodge represents the womb of Mother Earth. Volcanic stones are heated in a fire outside, then brought into the lodge and placed in a shallow hole in the centre. Participants sit in complete darkness around the red-hot stones to sweat away old habits and beliefs, and to heal disease. When you return humbly to the womb of the Mother, you are offered second chances.
This is the opportunity to be reborn as a better version of yourself. In order for that to happen you have to endure a period of shedding, followed by growth; both can be uncomfortable but always well worth it. Thinking back to Monday’s card,The Spiral, that speaks of new skin, you are invited to remain kind to yourself. Nurture yourself as you would another during this period of metaphorical and physical fire. Pace yourself and honour the process – pushing yourself further than your capabilities at this time will simply break you.
Life is offering you a second chance. Take it, since this chance may not come your way again for a while! Mother Earth is calling you into her womb and inviting you to incubate as long as needed for a spiritual rebirth. Gift yourself time to be with your darkness—your fears, your pain, and your seeds of beautiful potential—until you come out the other side free, wise, and full of creativity.
